Vacation Pricing Snapshot Tells Consumers When to Book for Maximum Savings

PASADENA, Calif. (June 28, 2010) - Volatile vacation lodging prices leave consumers in a quandary—do they book now to lock in a price, or hold out to the last minute in hopes of a deep discount? LeisureLink Inc.’s Vacation Pricing Snapshot gives consumers the tool they need in order to know when to book.

Pricing has become increasingly unpredictable as vacation lodging companies utilize more and more sophisticated calculations to match prices and demand. Consumers can level the playing field with early indications of price movements from LeisureLink.

"We asked ourselves a simple question" said Erik Hovanec, President and CEO of LeisureLink, "as consumers, should we book our vacation lodging for the Fourth of July weekend now or at the last minute?" To get the answer, LeisureLink used its special software that scours the web and pulls in pricing from tens of thousands of possible rentals, hotels, inns, boutique hotels and condo rentals. This massive data set is then summarized make it easy to use.

"We realized that the massive pricing data set that we use to help lodging suppliers make intelligent decisions about how to price is also very useful for consumers. Consumers need to see what typical prices are in each category. Prices Rising in Aspen, CO, Falling in Orlando, FL and Mixed in Pamana City Beach, FL, Myrtle Beach, SC and Hilton Head, SC. “The message is simple,” said Hovanec. “If you want to go to Aspen, you better book now! There is less of a rush in other markets. There may even be some last minute discounts.”


The data, which are updated several times per day with thousands of new data points, are summarized in the table above for easy consumer use. Hovanec also reminded consumers that these are general trends, not predictions for individual properties. “While pricing differs by specific resort and can change frequently, our Vacation Pricing Snapshot will help consumers discover the right price for their vacation lodging.”
